Our guest through December-January has been designer Inni Pärnänen. We have laser cut thin plywood, leather, and aluminum with her. The cut quality for plywood and leather especially has been excellent. Towards the end of the residency we’ve been concentrating more on laser bending and forming of aluminum and steel foils. Laser bending is a difficult and unpredictable process, but as such is scientifically very interesting and needs further studying.
It’s been easy to work with Inni. She has a good understanding of how materials behave in laser processing and due to her spontaneity we have been able to carry out a lot of experimenting. With her we were also able to solve one problem regarding the work bed in one of laser work stations :)
