Among other things, artistic marking on ceramic and marble with lasers was tried with Ella. We have done ceramic marking before in our lab but we have never utilized it to actual plates and cups, just small scientific samples, so it was interesting to see if it works and how it looks. We found out that generally it works really well, but the different enamel/glazing on different plates and cups react differently to laser processing which can have either detrimental or positive effects on the marking quality. Perhaps a bit surprisingly, we were also able to mark the polished marble plate that Ella had even though we were a bit skeptical whether we would be able to have any contrast between the laser marking and the base material. Interesting stuff.
